The Personnel Board, also created by the Personnel Act, is an
independent agency composed of members appointed by the Governor. The
Board hears complaints of Ethics Act (AS 39.52) violations brought
against Executive Branch employees and disciplinary appeals from
classified employees not covered by collective bargaining, approves
amendments to the Personnel Rules and acts on recommendations for
extensions of the partially exempt or classified services within the
Executive Branch

Hmmm. "Appointed by the governor." That means they serve at the
pleasure of said governor
and may be dismissed at will of said governor without any need to
justify. Let's see, do I
lose my job by ruling against the person who put me in this cush job,
or do I rule in her favor
and keep this cush job?

I think they played that wrong, actually. If there were issues such as
drinking on the job, or illegal hunting, that probably should've been
mentioned earlier.

That being said, it's still the United Alaskan Emirates up there...
They should run a budget surplus from all the oil being taken out up
there. That doesn't bother me, but at the same time, don't take credit
for making the sun rise.

Maybe the suspect should always pick the grand jury from among friends.

Seems like a governor would realize that getting directly involved
with a state employee disciplinary action, AND also being a member of
her extended family is a "conflict of interest". Any bonehead
bureaucrat would realize this as she should have. But Sarah is back
where she belongs.
